Boy Scouts at Sea Base Camp Nayle at Camp Sawyer

This past Tuesday night SCAS Astros completed the final program for the Boy Scouts at Sea Base Camp Nayle at Camp Sawyer.

An informal talk about constellations and the night sky in general was given by Russ Brick and outstanding telescope views were provided by Sergio Figuera and his 16" dob. We also promoted binocular astronomy for beginners.

The skies were mostly clear so we were able to show some deep sky wonders along with the planets.

We also made a stop at the La Nina Restaurant Inc.

Great opportunity for the Scouts. I would have loved looking through telescopes assisted by someone who knows what they are doing when I was a kid. My cousins had a descent refractor and we spent a lot of time looking at planets and double stars. But knew nothing about the equitorial mount... Great Job SCAS.
